How to Temporarily Disable Your Instagram Account ?

If you are not making money or doing business on Instagram, you may not find time to deal with social media at some busy times in your life. Or you may just want to stay out of sight for a bit. At such times, Instagram's option to temporarily disable the account may be a good option. Thus, you can access all your photos and data again at your convenient time.

During this deactivation period, your Instagram URL will become invalid, users won’t be able to find you in search, and they also won’t be able to contact you.

While trying to temporarily disable the Instagram account, some users can delete it completely. Although it is explained in the Instagram help center, such situations can still occur. In order to avoid such situations, we will describe this process with pictures.

When you temporarily close your account, your profile, photos, comments and likes will be hidden until you reactivate your account by logging in again.

To temporarily disable your account:

  1. Log into Instagram from computer or mobile browser. It is not possible to temporarily close your account through the Instagram application.
  2. Tap or click the profile icon at the top right and select "Edit Profile".

  1. Tap or click “Temporarily disable my account” at the bottom right of the screen.

  1. "Why are you disabling your account?" Make a selection from the drop-down menu next to the question and re-enter your password. The option to disable your account only appears when you select a reason from the menu.

  1. Tap or click Temporarily Disable Account

*While the Instagram account is temporarily closed, if the account is re-entered, it will become active and will continue to be seen by followers.
